Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana

Nihol Falcom has announced the next mainline instalment in the Ys franchise with Ys 10: Nordics, and while fans of the action RPG series will of course be keenly anticipating its launch, it’s not the only noteworthy Ys title coming up.

The Japanese developer has also unveiled Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remaster of Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which originally launched for PC in Japan in 2005 (followed by a 2012 worldwide launch on the platform), and for the PSP in 2010. The Oath in Felghana was itself a remake of Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys, which originally launched in 1989.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will make a number of key improvements to the PSP title, including fully voiced event scenes and full voice acting for protagonist Adol Christin (voiced by Yuki Kaji), with narration by Banjou Ginga. The remaster will also feature remastered music, sound effects, and HD visuals.

Two separate visual modes will also be featured- Refined Versions will use new character portraits for the remastered release, while Classic Versions will stick with the original PSP and PC portraits. Players can switch between the two modes at any time. Similarly, three additional settings for the background music will also be available- the PC and PSP release’s Original Version, and the original Ys 3‘s PC-8801 Version and X68000 Version.

Meanwhile, several quality-of-life improvements have also been confirmed, including a High-Speed Mode that will allow players to speed up movement and battles by 1.5 to two times, which can be activated with a single push of a button. A No Fall mode will also be available for those who want to disable fall damage.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will launch in Japan for the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023. There’s no word yet on when it will release in Western markets, or if it will eventually also make its way to additional platforms.
