Asobo Studio has seen a meteoric rise in prominence in recent years, and it’s fair to say that a lot of that has been down to the Plague Tale series. Both narrative-driven action games have been commercial and critical successes, so it’s not entirely surprising to learn that French developer seems to be working on another new instalment in the series.
At least that’s what multiple job openings at the studio seem to suggest. Asobo recently published a post on LinkedIn in which it called for applicants for a number of open positions.
Though the majority of these are for the Flight Sim team, which is presumably focused on the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the LinkedIn post (which you can view below) explicitly mentions that four positions – VFX Artist, Senior Game Designer, Senior AI Programmer, and Senior Gameplay Animator – are for the “Plague Team”.
Given the fact that A Plague Tale: Requiem has been out for over nine months, and that the first game never got any DLC, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that this is for a sequel. That said, until such time Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Entertainment officially unveil A Plague Tale 3 (or whatever it ends up being called), it’s best (as always) to tread with caution.
In our review of A Plague Tale: Requiem upon its launch, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “A Plague Tale: Requiem expands and improves upon its predecessor in nearly every way, delivering a meaty, excellently crafted, visually stunning, and thoroughly engaging experience.” Read the full review through here.
A couple of weeks after the game’s launch, Asobo Studio announced that it had surpassed a million players. Last year, it was also announced that a TV series adaptation of A Plague Tale had entered development.
