Xbox has released a new safety feature for players on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles that allows them to easily capture and report inappropriate voice chat activity in any multiplayer game. To further help players, the feature also allows them to “capture now, report later,” allowing players to focus on their gameplay.

The feature is currently available to Alpha and Alpha-skip Xbox Insiders, according to Microsoft, and allows captures of up to 60 seconds in length to be submitted. Alongside current-gen games, the feature also supports multiplayer titles from the Xbox 360 backward-compatible catalogue as well. The feature will start out available to console players in a few English-language markets—US, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

While the process for capturing and submitting audio works similarly to regular game capture on Xbox consoles, according to Microsoft, the voice clips are only for moderation purposes, and will not show up on your list of recent captures. These clips also cannot be downloaded, modified, or shared with other players.

Once captured, the clip will stay on consoles for 24 online hours. The console will also alert players with a reminder to report if they haven’t yet submitted it. If the player decides to not submit a report, the clip is then erased from the console automatically. Players who submit reports will also be notified on whether or not Xbox took action on the report.
