The Invincible Dev Diary Discusses Narrative, Themes, and Choices

Learn more about astrobiologist Yasna as she lands on Regis 3 to save her crew and becomes entangled in several moral dilemmas.

A new Developer Diary is available for Starward Industries’ The Invincible, a first-person sci-fi adventure based on Stanisław Lem’s novel. As astrobiologist Yasna, you travel to Regis 3 and must search for your crew-mates, but it quickly becomes clear that the planet isn’t for humanity.

The development team discusses how the game sticks close to the narrative, as Yasna goes from following orders from Novik, her Astrogator. Over time, she must learn to trust her intuition, but there’s room for doubts in humanity, science, and herself. Players will make choices that affect the narrative and their relationship with characters like Novik.

A handful of endings will cause you to reflect on humanity’s best traits or more destructive qualities (depending on badly you mess up, we would imagine). The Invincible is releasing for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC later this year. Check out 18 minutes of in-depth gameplay here, and stay tuned for more updates.
