Red Dead Redemption 1 Patch Adds 60 FPS Option on PS5

Update 1.03 is out now for the recently-released port of the open world title, and it's quietly added a 60 FPS option for PlayStation 5 players.

Red Dead Redemption - PS4_02

Those who were hoping for Red Dead Redemption to get a modern re-release certainly got their wish in the most monkey’s paw way possible, with a rather conventional port of the title (to say the least) being released for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in August. There wasn’t really much to speak of with the port where visual and technical improvements were concerned, though Rockstar has now added in a feature that many bemoaned the absence of.

Red Dead Redemption recently released a new patch with update 1.03, which, by and large, is a fairly ordinary one, bringing “general bug fixes, stability fixes, and improvements”, same as its previous two patches. Notably, however, something that Rockstar hasn’t advertised or even mentioned in the patch notes is the fact that a 60 FPS option has also been added in, allowing players to toggle it on at any time through the game’s menu.

Currently, the option only seems to be available on PS5 via backward compatibility, so it remains to be seen whether PS4 and Switch players will get similar love anytime soon, though at the very least, it does come as an option now.

Of course, Red Dead Redemption’s port recently did not release for Xbox consoles, since the original game is still playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility, while even sporting visual and technical boosts that other versions of the game (recent ports included) don’t have.
