Bonnie Jean Mah, who worked on the Gears of War series as Franchise Narrative Director, has announced that she’s joined Sony Santa Monica. She’s working with the team as Narrative Director and is “beyond thrilled” about the same. Along with working on Gears 5 and its live content, including the Hivebusters DLC, she’s also worked on Gears Tactics.
Before Sony Santa Monica, Jean Mah was a Narrative Director at TiMi Montreal under Tencent Games on an untitled open-world RPG. Other experience includes as Narrative Lead and Lead Writer on Age of Empires 4 for Relic Entertainment, a Narrative Producer for Gears of War 4, and Writer/Narrative Designer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, per LinkedIn. As for what she could be working on now, rumors indicate that Sony Santa Monica is developing DLC for God of War Ragnarok.
The Coalition is reportedly working on Gears 6, which will allegedly be more open than Gears 5. Stay tuned for potential announcements on either project in the coming months, perhaps at The Game Awards 2023 on December 7th.
