UPDATE: More recent data seems to have emerged from the leak, suggesting that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart had shipped over 2.7 million units as of February 2022 (with sell-through numbers standing at over 2.3 million units), and turned a profit.

Original story follows:

Insomniac Games has enjoyed incredible critical and commercial success with its Marvel’s Spider-Man games in recent years, and though 2021’s Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart did enjoy similar critical acclaim, it seems the action-platformer has failed to make an equal impact with its commercial performance.

That’s as per recently leaked internal Insomniac documents that have emerged online (via Reddit) following a ransomware attack on the studio. As per the leak, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which was confirmed to have sold 1.1 million units as of July 2021, has sold over 2.2 million units worldwide, though those sales have been unable to turn a profit.

In fact, Rift Apart incurred a loss of $8 million, as per the leaked details, with a total budget of $81 million and total revenue of $73 million, and -10% return on investments. Thankfully for fans of the franchise, details emerging from the Insomniac ransomware leak have also revealed that a new Ratchet and Clank game is in development, so it doesn’t look like Rift Apart’s underperformance had a disastrous impact on the franchise.

The same leak has also revealed plans for Marvel’s Venom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, Marvel’s Wolverine, Marvel’s X-Menand a new IP.

Meanwhile, details have also leaked on the budget and sales for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a total budget of $315 million.
