no rest for the wicked

Ori developer Moon Studios launched No Rest for the Wicked into Steam Early Access yesterday, and it’s seen mixed impressions from players for various reasons. These include performance issues, lack of key rebinding in-game, untranslated text, etc.

In a new Steam post, the developer outlined the known issues it’s looking to address. “We are constantly reviewing and optimizing performance and will continue to do so.” It advises reducing resolution scale or rendering resolution to improve performance, installing the game on an SSD and adjusting the Quality Presets. However, the team aims to “get some immediate GPU settings in the next patch.”

Though it’s aware of the lack of pausing in single-player, no options for rebinding controls in-game and the current UI only showing Xbox buttons, an ETA on fixes is yet to be provided. It’s working on “improving and adding aspect ratio support over time” and improving language support, with players encouraged to highlight untranslated text.

In the meantime, it’s posted some known issues with solutions. Check them out below. No Rest for the Wicked is only playable in PC early access currently, but it’s also in development for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Known Issues with Solutions:

Collision

  • There may be instances where you can get stuck or fall through the world. If you end up stuck, exit to the main menu, go to your realm in the realms menu and use the CONTINUE FROM LAST WHISPER option to spawn back at the last whisper you activated.

Unexpected Progression Loss

  • If you lose progression for any reason, exit to the main menu, go to your realm in the realms menu and use BACKUPS to go back to an earlier save in your realm.

Controller Support

  • If you encounter issues with your controller not working in-game, check if Steam Input is Enabled in Steam.
  • PlayStation controllers are known to only work with Steam Input Enabled.
