Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds received a new trailer during the Summer Game Fest showcase, revealing a new monster and some dynamic weather players can expect. However, press members also saw a 30-minute hands-off demo, which showcased even more details, like visible Wounds on monsters to exploit for more damage.

Of course, the new locales in the Forbidden Lands are also noteworthy. A Capcom spokesperson told GamesRadar that the maps are “a little more than twice the size of previous games.” Factoring in the new herds, it means several large monsters in a single region.

Also, while lightning strikes and sandstorms will change the environment, unearthing new resources to collect, there will be periods of “abundance.” These are random occurrences and provide “free healing” through Vigorwasps, though further details are needed. Perhaps it also means that some mining and gathering nodes grant more resources. Time will tell.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, and will support crossplay for the first time in the series. A demo will be playable at Gamescom in August, so stay tuned for further details.
