The looter shooter genre is a crowded one, and the free-to-play multiplayer space doubly so, so as a free-to-play looter shooter, the upcoming The First Descendant is going to have no shortage of competition. Nonetheless. Nexon is making some intriguing promises with the upcoming title, and at least where the amount of content on offer is concerned, the game seems to be taking shape well enough.
For instance, the developer has released a video in which it has offered details on what The First Descendant’s endgame content will entail- and there’s a fair bit to get through. For starters, players will be able to unlock all of the playable Descendants, in addition to researching ultimate weapons, which come with increased stats and unique abilities. Nexon says it will also release new Descendants and weapons in the future.
Meanwhile, The First Descendant will also allow players to replay missions in the post-game with increased difficulty options for better rewards. Similarly, you’ll also be able to play multiplayer missions known as Infiltration Missions, where you’ll be able to improve the rewards you get by enabling a variety of challenge modifiers.
Also available will be Special Operations, which are described as some of the game’s most challenging content. Focused entirely on combat, these will be round-based missions that will see you taking on waves of enemies, with rewards improving based on how far you progress. Three types of Special Operations will be available, each bringing unique challenges and threats.
Finally, the game will also feature Void Intercept Battles, which are battles against massive enemies in dedicated arenas. These are effectively raid bosses that you’ll be able to defeat by working with other players, in exchange for rare and exclusive rewards, including some that will allow you to unlock new Descendants and weapons.
