In the aftermath of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s announcement in June, BioWare and EA have kept the rollout of new details on the action RPG going. Game Informer’s recent coverage has brought new information on the game’s character creator, progression mechanics, combat, and more, and now, another article published by the outlet has detailed its difficulty options.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature multiple difficulty options for players to choose between. Storyteller mode will seemingly be the easiest difficulty and focus more on story than providing a combat challenge. Adventurer difficulty will strike a balance between both, and will presumably be the default mode.

There will also be a Nightmare difficulty, which will be The Veilguard’s hardest difficulty mode. Players will be able to change the difficulty they’re playing at at any time, except if you’re playing on Nightmare, which will be locked in as soon as it is selected.

Finally, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also feature an Unbound difficulty option, which will allow players to customize a variety of gameplay aspects in different ways to suit their needs. That will include things such as wayfinding, aim assistance, parry timing, damage output and damage taken, and even a no-death option.

“[None of these options] are a cheat,” says game director Corinne Busche. “It’s an option to make sure players of all abilities can show up.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches this Fall for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A specific release date is currently unknown.
