According to Media Create sales, all PS Vita launch titles collectively sold 300,000 units in Japan in the system’s debut week, whereas the system itself managed to sell 325,000 units. We remarked that the software sales (and the attach rate of 0.92) were not just low compared to the competition and previous handhelds, but by themselves too. However, as everyone, we also commented that the digital sales, which were not accounted for in the figures, were probably very high.
Sony has now announced that they are indeed.
“Sales of the download versions of titles are exceeding expectations,” Sony Computer Entertainment Japan CEO Hiroshi Kawano said at a press conference for Gung Ho Entertainment’s Ragnarok Odyssey in Japan this week.
He did not, however, release any figures.
