As the first ever open world Star Wars game and coming from a major developer and publisher, you’d have expected Star Wars Outlaws to have got off to a much more impressive start where sales are concerned. Upon its launch in August, its physical launch sales in the UK were reported to be 55 percent lower than what EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor managed upon its release last year, and more information on its initial sales in the region has now emerged that continues to paint a less-than-glowing picture.

As per Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry on Twitter, even with both physical and digital sales combined, Star Wars Outlaws’ sales seem lower than expected, with the game having sold about half as much as Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed Miragea much smaller game in scope – did upon its launch in the UK last year.

That said, apparently, Star Wars Outlaws has still done much better than developer Massive Entertainment’s last game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which released in December. As per Dring, Outlaws has more than half as much as Avatar did, and still has “plenty of opportunity to drive” more sales in the final months of the year.

Last week, it was reported that Star Wars Outlaws’ middling launch had contributed to continued share price declines for Ubisoft, with the company also being urged by investors to go private. Read more on that through here.

Star Wars Outlaws is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review of the game through here.
