Ubisoft made it abundantly clear in the lead-up to Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s launch last year that it was designed from the get-go as a smaller, more contained experience, meant to serve as an appetizer of sorts between major, tentpole releases for the franchise. Nonetheless, it looks like the game has enjoyed decent success regardless- if not on the level that its launch numbers would have suggested.

As per Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, since its launch in October, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been played by over 5 million players, bringing in roughly $250 million in revenue. Shortly after the game came out, Ubisoft labeled it a success, calling it its biggest current-gen launch so far, with initial player numbers falling in roughly the same range as what Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey enjoyed upon their respective releases.

While it doesn’t look like Mirage has managed to maintain much of that initial momentum since them, it the aforementioned figure of 5 million players is accurate, that would mean it’s still significantly more successful than a couple of other recent Ubisoft releases, like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, both of which have allegedly seen underwhelming post-launch numbers.

As per Henderson, Ubisoft will release Star Wars Outlaws in the first half of this year, followed by Assassin’s Creed Codename Red in the second half, and by a new Ghost ReconSplinter Cell’s remake, and more in the next couple of years after that.
