Silent Hill 2 Remake has a New Game Plus mode just like the original from 2001, and with it come a variety of unlockables and collectibles to progress the story, some of which can lead to new and unexpected endings.

This Silent Hill 2 Remake guide lists all the unlockables to be found in New Game Plus.

New Filters

These graphical modifiers are great for creating a distinctive visual feel to playthroughs, and are all added automatically to the Display & Graphics menu after a successful initial run, for use even in a regular New Game.

Carry Forward

Absolutely nothing from your initial playthrough will carry forward into New Game Plus. Players will start from scratch, but fortunately, a lot of the combat aspect will be mitigated by an early new weapon.

Chainsaw

Perhaps the best unlockable in New Game Plus is the Chainsaw as the melee weapon of choice. This one-shot weapon is already running loud while buried in a log of wood directly opposite the sign to the Silent Hill Ranch, on the right side of the route.

New Items

Most of the items discoverable in New Game Plus appear related to unlocking the exclusive endings, both regular and joke.

  • Key of Sorrow

The Chainsaw immediately comes in handy here, as you will need it to bust through the right backseat window of a green car on Wiltse Road. The car is located beyond a metal chain link gate down a short tunnel off of Nathan Avenue. Possessing the Key of Sorrow leads to the unlocking of one of the two new endings.

  • Rusted Key

This key is lying inside a safe fixed into the shoe rack behind the counter at Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama, in the west side of South Vale. The combination code is 1887 on Hard difficulty.

  • Cryptic Letter

Alongside the Rusted Key in the safe is this Memo.

  • Small Chest

This tiny lockbox is lying in plain sight on a bench inside the gazebo at the Garden in Brookhaven Hospital. Combine the Rusted Key from above to open the Small Chest and receive a bottle of White Claudia, the consumption of which in turn unlocks the second of the two new endings.

Refer the video guide below to see how you can get the Rusted Key, Cryptic Letter and the Small Chest.

  • Broken Key Part #1

Get the first part of a key within The Pet Center, right next to Big Jay’s on Neely Street, in the east side of South Vale.

  • Broken Key Part #2

Get the second part of a key in the doghouse of a home on Katz Street, south-west of Baldwin Mansion. Facing north and counting from left to right, the first house should have a small gate with a bone sign/symbol to go through. Combine the two parts to get the Dog Key and unlock the New Game Plus-exclusive joke ending.

Refer the video guide below to see how you can get both broken key parts.

  • Blue Gem

Acquire the Blue Gem at the Jewellers, which is right next door to The Pet Center, in the east side of South Vale. Bust the display window on the left to pick up the Blue Gem from the open box. Use this at multiple locations in order to unlock another New Game Plus-exclusive joke ending.

  • Crimson Ceremony

An item specific to the Rebirth ending. At the Graveyard in South Vale, close to the northern shoreline, find a tree with two gravestones nearby. Lying in plain sight at the foot of the headstone on the right is this book.

  • White Chrism

Another item specific to the Rebirth ending. At the entrance to the Baldwin Mansion in the west side of South Vale, find this vial lying in plain sight on a table with two candlesticks.

  • Obsidian Goblet

The third item specific to the Rebirth ending. Within the Silent Hill Historical Society in the west side of South Vale. This ornate cup is sitting in plain sight inside a wall niche in the same room as the painting.

  • Lost Memories

The fourth and final item specific to the Rebirth ending. In the Lost & Found room on 1F of the LakeView Hotel. This book is lying in plain sight on a table after squeezing through the opening. Save right before picking this up to optimize your playthrough, as possessing this item in combination with the previous three above leads to the Rebirth ending at the conclusion of the run.

Refer the video guide below to see how you can get Crimson Ceremony, Obsidian Goblet, Lost Memories and White Chrism.

  • Various Books

A number of books to read are scattered around town, particularly in the bookshop, but also in other locations. These tend to provide broad hints on how to go about getting the various endings to the game.

Those are all the new unlockable collectibles in Silent Hill 2 Remake.
