Coming from the creative leads of the Persona series, Metaphor: ReFantazio has always been a game to turn heads, and with reviews proclaiming it as one of the best games of the year in the lead-up to its imminent release, excitement surrounding the fantasy RPG is continuing to mount. Now, with its launch on the horizon, the official Xbox podcast has shared an interview with the director of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Katsura Hashino, who previously directed Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5, Catherine, and more.

In the interview, Hashino offers details on Metaphor: ReFantazio’s fantasy setting, while also speaking about how its story is structured differently from what Persona fans might be used, in turn also allowing players to be able to explore a greater variety of environments throughout the length of the game. Hashino also speaks about the game’s combat, how it blends real-time mechanics, the inspiration it takes from Shin Megami Tensei’s combat, and more. Watch the interview below for more details.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is due out on October 11 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
