Reviews have gone live for Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio, and thus far, it looks like another winner for Atlus. At the time of writing on Opencritic, it scored a 91 out of 100, with 42 critics weighing in. The highest Metascore on Metacritic is currently 94 for the PS5 version, which has 28 reviews. However, it’s not far behind on PC and Xbox Series X/S with 91 and 92 Metascores.

Some of the more noteworthy reviews include IGN, which gave it a 9 out of 10 and praised the Archetype system, adventure elements, and overall message. GameSpot awarded it a rare 10 out of 10 with all-out praise for pretty much everything (though it notes some scenes could use voice acting).

PC Gamer gave it a 95 out of 100, though it pointed out some performance issues in the first city at Max settings and 200 percent rendering scale on PC. Though lowering the latter to 150 percent improved things dramatically, it still advised waiting for more details (especially given issues with the recent demo).
