Project ETHOS

2K Games and 31st Union, a new studio formed by Michael Condrey (Sledgehammer Games, Visceral Games), have revealed Project ETHOS. It’s a free-to-play third-person hero shooter with roguelike elements coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A release date has not been announced.

The title offers two modes: Trials and Gauntlet. The former consists of matches against AI enemies and other players, where three-player teams collect and extract cores. These can then be used to receive Augments for future Trials runs. When your hero levels up during a Trial, they can unlock new abilities and passives.

Gaunlet is a round-robin-style tournament where multiple teams compete in Team Deathmatch. Though it’s more straightforward than Trials, it offers more conventional PvP.

A community playtest is available on PC from October 17th to 20th in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. Head here for the timings. Those who register and don’t get access will be earmarked for future playtests.
