The Thing Remastered

Nightdive Studios has finally released some gameplay footage for The Thing: Remastered after only releasing screenshots. Based on the 2002 survival horror (inspired by the 1982 film), the remaster is out later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Check it out in action below.

Aside from the third-person shooting and presence of Scuttlers, The Thing: Remastered captures everything that made the original so intriguing. The paranoia of questioning your allies, not sure who could be infected, turning on each other at a moment’s notice. It’s all here and looks better than ever, thanks to Nightdive’s KEX Engine.

On top of supporting up to 4K resolution and 144 FPS on current-gen platforms, The Thing: Remastered features contemporary atmospherics, dynamic lighting, improved character models and animations, and much more. Gameplay-wise, original director Mark Atkinson also confirmed quality-of-life fixes for issues in the 2002 release. Stay tuned for more details and a potential release date in the coming months.
