Following Tokyo Game Show 2024, various gameplay presentations have begun to emerge, including from Omega Force’s Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Set during the “Subjugation of Yuan Shu,” it sees the nameless protagonist and their coalition fighting against Yuan Shu. Check it out below.

Players start by attacking the enemy castle from the East; however, as noted by producer Tomohiko Sho, they meet quick resistance from shielded enemies and catapult fire. Instead of continuing to push ahead, the protagonist ventures to the northeast base to support their allies. Upon returning, players must escort a siege tower to the walls, utilizing tactics like Invigoration to spur allies and avoid dangerous attacks from enemy troops.

Battling opposing Officers can be trickier. You need to exploit any openings or use Arts to break through their Fortitude. Enemy armies can also unleash tactics, like Fiery Fortress, which deal extensive damage, so you have to take them out ASAP to avoid significant casualties.

The gameplay showcases other powerful tactics and different weapons that the protagonist can employ, including a Guan Dao. Eventually, you’ll march alongside the armies of Liu Bei and Lu Bu and even switch to your companion, Huang Gai, to wreak extensive havoc on Yuan Shu. We’re talking “mid-air powerbomb generating shockwaves to decimate hundreds of enemies” levels of havoc.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins launches on January 17th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Head here for more gameplay, and stay tuned for updates.
