With so many of its first-party exclusives coming to PS5, what is Microsoft’s stance on the recently revealed Nintendo Switch 2? Though it didn’t announce any titles at the recent Direct, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer reiterated Xbox’s commitment to the console, highlighting the importance of reaching players across diverse platforms.

In a recent interview with Variety, Spencer stated, “We’ve been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox.”

This approach aligns with Xbox’s broader strategy of expanding its game availability beyond its own consoles. Titles such as Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves have already made their way to PS5. Upcoming releases like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (out now in early access) and Forza Horizon 5 are also set to launch on PS5, reflecting Microsoft’s commitment to a more inclusive gaming ecosystem.

Spencer emphasized the significance of this strategy, noting, “It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games. I’m really a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them. And getting the support from them for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future.”

As Microsoft continues to embrace a multiplatform approach, players across various systems can anticipate greater access to Xbox’s diverse game library. And while it has yet to make any announcements for the Switch 2, rumors indicate that Starfield, Diablo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are in the works.
