Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has acknowledged that the game needs tougher challenges for some of the more proficient players out there. As spotted by GamesRadar, the studio made a post on its official Discord server in response to a Helldivers 2 player asking whether the title will get more complex and challenging encounters down the line.
“Currently, there are a lot of enemies that don’t really feel like they’re actually heavy enemies,” posted the fan on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, continuing that “all but two enemies get one-tapped by recoilless. The majority of the threat of the Leviathan was its ragdoll, but after that was removed, they don’t really have any effect on the player.”
Community manager Katherine Baskin acknowledged this feedback and indicated the studio is looking to address the same. “I can’t really say exact plans (obviously), but we are looking for ways to provide more challenge to players,” she posted.
Helldivers 2 is currently gearing up for a rush of new players with the recently-announced Xbox Series X/S version announced for release on August 26. The game is priced at $39.99 on Microsoft’s console, along with a Super Citizen Edition also being announced, priced at $59.99. The title is currently available for pre-order on Xbox Series X/S, complete with in-game bonus goodies for when the game launches: three sets of armour across two weight classes, with each armour set offering its own unique perks.
Shortly after announcing the Xbox Series X/S version (and confirming no plans for Xbox Game Pass), Arrowhead Game Studios also revealed that it was removing the Steeled Veterans Warbond from being included in the Super Citizen Edition and its upgrade. Rather, new buyers picking up the Super Citizen Edition will get the Warbond Token, which can be redeemed for any of the game’s premium Warbonds, rather than being limited to only getting the Steeled Veterans Warbond.
“Before now, players could accidentally double up purchases on the ‘Steeled Veterans Warbond’ in the game and with the Super Citizen Edition Upgrade,” explained the studio when announcing the Warbond Token. “We never want players to buy things twice and not get the value of what they paid for!”
Currently, Arrowhead Game Studios has no plans to make Warbonds Token a separate thing that Helldivers 2 players can purchase. Rather, it will remain exclusively available through the Super Citizen Edition, along with the upgrade pack.
