Gamescom 2025 has proven itself to be quite a successful event, even when compared to its iteration from the previous year. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the event saw attendance by 357,000 people from across 128 different countries. This attendance figure is record breaking, marking a 6.5 percent increase of attendance from Gamescom 2024.

For context, last year’s Gamescom also had quite a few visitors, coming in at 335,000 attendees. This year’s event, however, also featured a larger venue, complete with an additional hall dedicated to entertainment. The indie area and outdoor spaces were also larger this time around.

This year’s Gamescom featured 1,568 exhibitors from across 72 different country. All in all, the event had 40 pavilions with representation from 35 different countries. There were also countries exhibiting at the event for the first time, including Kyrgyzstan, Dubai, and Thailand.

While the standard attendance broke records, trade visitors were also quite numerous, coming in at 34,000 attendees. According to the report, China, Canada, Japan and the US saw the strongest growth when it came to trade visitors to Gamescom 2025.

With in-person attendance seeing such large numbers, Gamescom has also seen quite a bit of success on the digital front, boasting more than 630 million viewers that were watching content related to the event on Saturday. This marks an increase of around 105 percent when compared to the previous year. The Opening Night Live event this year also saw a major increase this year, with 72 million views.

“Gamescom 2025 sets new standards,” said German Games Industry Association managing director Felix Falk. “Bigger, more diverse and more international than ever before, the most important festival of gaming culture underscores the positive force that games, the industry, and the global community represent.”

“Gamescom 2025 has once again set a new standard for large-scale international events,” said Gerald Böse, president and CEO of Koelnmesse. “Gamescom combines business and entertainment like no other event worldwide, as shown by the 1,568 exhibitors spread across 233,000 square meters of gross exhibition space.”

“With record figures once again in nearly every category, the enormous variety of experiences and global participation, Gamescom is the most important event for the global gaming community.”

With Gamescom 2025 now behind us, the gaming industry has begun to look forward to the next major event – Tokyo Game Show 2025. The event is slated to kick things off on September 25, and will have two days dedicated to business, with two more days being open for the general populace. The event is slated to have several companies from all over the world showcase their games there.

Recently, PlayStation had confirmed that it would be attending the event with three of its titles: Ghost of Yōtei, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Astro Bot, the last of which will be part of a Family Game Park section. Koei Tecmo has also announced its own presence at the event with three major games – Nioh 3, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Ninja Gaiden 4.

The event is also rumoured to feature an announcement for Forza Horizon 6 by Xbox.
