Highguard

Amid weeks of doubt, Wildlight Entertainment’s Highguard is finally available worldwide for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It coincides with a new launch showcase where the developer explains everything you need to know about the free-to-play PvP shooter.

“Raids” are a central focus in Highguard, as players compete to obtain the Stormbreaker and destroy the opposing team’s base. There are multiple base types to choose from before each match, and when things kick off, you ride out into the world to discover better weapons, armor, and gear. Vesper is the main currency – it can be mined from nodes, earned from kills, and much more, then traded to the vendor, Flynn, for loot.

Once the Stormbreaker is formed and obtained, it’s time to initiate a raid, which summons a Siege Tower in front of the enemy base. It serves as your respawn point as you assault the base, attempting to destroy its generators and the focal point – the Anchor Stone. If the defense succeeds, the match starts afresh but with upgraded loot to discover.

If that isn’t enough, you also have Raid Tools, including a Blast Hammer and Rocket Launcher, for more effectively destroying structures. Overall, a lot is going on and even more to come, so stay tuned for further updates on Highguard’s post-launch plans.
