Highguard - Soul Well base

Highguard has officially left the “Mostly Negative” sphere of Steam user reviews, less than a week after launching. Although having a “Mixed” rating with only 42 per cent of the currently 34,181 reviews recommending it is not a huge improvement, you know what is? The addition of a new 5v5 Raid Mode.

Available as part of a limited-time playlist for the weekend, it ups the player count from six per match to ten. Slight changes have been made during the raiding phase – there are now ten respawns, and the process is longer for defenders/attackers to make some actual progress – but keep in mind that performance isn’t fully optimized.

For those (somehow) satisfied with 3v3, a new base, Soul Well, is available. It’s fairly massive but cleanly denotes the locations of its generators, with what appears to be a straight shot down the middle for the Anchor Stone.

Regarding other changes, Wildlight Entertainment has finally introduced a toggle for motion blur on all platforms. Furthermore, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players can turn off anisotropic materials. Optimization has also been done on other systems, including animations, projectiles, and more.

Highguard is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review for the launch version here. While it had a rather rough release (never mind the weeks leading up to it), Wildlight is committed to the shooter for the next 11 months at least. Check out the roadmap here.
