Star Wars: Galactic Racer Might Include Movie Cameos if They’re Accurate to the Timeline

While Star Wars: Galactic Racer will tell a new story that revolves around dangerous and fast-paced racing, CEO of developer Fuse Games, Matt Webster, has spoken about how important it was for the team to stay accurate to the core of Star Wars. In an interview with VGC, which you can check out below, Webster also mentioned that any potential cameos from the films would have to be accurate to the game’s setting of the original trilogy era.

On the subject of whether players would get to meet a young Anakin Skywalker, who was shown pod racing in The Phantom Menace, Webster said, “The thing there is, we need to be accurate, but that’s okay when you have experts.”

“We don’t recreate the Boonta Eve Classic as it appeared in Episode 1, because the outcome of that race is decided. But there’s other ways we can use those inspirations and those moments in creative and interesting ways.”

When asked specifically about a potential Anakin cameo, Webster said, “Who knows where things will take us. You’ve seen the characters that are available to you right now. What is true is that launch will be a moment, and we’re keen to bring new things to the game post-launch.”

More details about the multiplayer systems of Star Wars: Galactic Racer were revealed earlier this week with a video. The title is slated to feature similar progression systems for multiplayer as it does in single-player. Depending on their performance in earlier rounds, players will be able to add more upgrades to their vehicles, which will help with improved handling and speed in later rounds. The video explained that this was a useful way for even casual players to keep up with more experienced ones.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer will also offer plenty of customization options. While the racer selection will be relatively simple – players will get to choose from the racers they encounter in the campaign – there will be plenty of more options when it comes to vehicle customization. Along with performance upgrades, players can also change things like their vehicle’s paint jobs.

Interestingly, there is also a betting system included in the multiplayer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, where players can place wagers on the performance of their opponents for a race. Depending on how accurate the prediction was, the betting player will also get some rewards.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and is slated for an October 6th release. A physical launch is also planned, with Fuse Games and Secret Mode collaborating with PLAION to make it happen. However, no details have been revealed on whether the physical release will happen simultaneously with the digital one.

Considering the pedigree of Fuse Games, it should come as no surprise that the creative director of Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Kieran Crimmins, wants to tap into the team’s experience with working on the Burnout franchise. This means we will also get to enjoy some Burnout-style crashes throughout the game.
