Fresh off its release for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, Frogwares confirmed during the recent Future Games Show that The Sinking City 2 will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2. You’ll have to wait, though, because it’s planned for 2027.
Sadly, there aren’t any further details. However, you would think gyro aiming with the Joy-Con 2 is supported. Of course, given how well it plays on PC, Frogwares should be able to implement mouse functionality. We’ll have to wait and see.
As for the current versions, The Sinking City 2 has scored well among critics, averaging a 79 Metascore based on 40 reviews (check out our thoughts here). Its Steam release isn’t performing badly either, with a “Very Positive” rating. About 84 percent of the current 991 user reviews give it a thumbs-up, but player numbers have been fairly meager, peaking at nearly 2,000 concurrent at launch.
Of course, some mixed impressions abound about how different it is from the original. Frogwares focuses more on survival horror shooting akin to Resident Evil, where investigations are mostly optional (though you should do them anyway for the rewards). While some praised the atmosphere and puzzle variety, others criticized the linearity of some levels and the combat.
