Sony has just unveiled a rather interesting collector’s item at the latest State of Play, and it’s a LEGO version of the original PlayStation console that began the brand’s journey back in the day.
It’s an almost 1:1 scale model of the console that you’re going to have to put together, with 1,911 pieces to assemble. Those include dioramas of Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, each of which you could choose to display or hide away within your “console”. Customizable elements on each one can further help make your version of it feel like it’s uniquely yours, although the time it’s going to take you to build it should do the heavy lifting on that front.
The news of this truly unique collectible, born out of a collaboration with LEGO, comes at a time when Sony is battling it out over concerns regarding its all-digital push for PlayStation, something we’ve talked about a lot before. We can’t help but wonder how many potential takers this LEGO set has already lost courtesy of the situation, which would be quite a shame given how incredible it looks when it’s put together.
