Sony has sold 33 million Playstation 3 units worldwide

After a great year in 2009, wherein Sony announced the PlayStation 3 slim and a price cut, the maker has now announced that the last nine months for the console has already surpassed the sales that they had achieved in 2008. The PlayStation 3 has already sold 10.8 million units between April and December 2009. Of that 10.8 million, over half–6.5 million–were sold between October and December 2009. By posing those impressive figures, PlayStation 3 now stands at over 33 million sold worldwide, that is almost half of what Nintendo has sold (67 million) and six million shy of Xbox 360 (at 39 million).
