The PS3 Slim has swept the Engadget awards with flying colours.

Taking both ‘Home Entertainment Device of the Year’ and ‘Games Console of the Year’, the PS3 Slim trumped rivals, taking close to half of the votes in both categories.

However, the Slim wasn’t exactly up against overwhelming competition; the closest rival in Home Entertainment Device of the Year’ was the HP MediaSmart Home Server, taking a measly 9.6% of the votes, while the Slim took home the trophy with 54.3%.

In the ‘Games Console of the Year’ awards, the Slim’s main rival was the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Edition, which took a significant 31.2% against the PS3 Slim’s 43.3%. The Slim was also the Editor’s Choice top pick for Console of the Year.

In other Engadget award news, the Wii MotionPlus took home ‘Game Accessory of the Year’, beating Modern Warfare 2’s Night Vision Goggles’s by just 4.7%.
