E3 2010: New Metal Gear Announcement Coming This E3?

Posted By | On 12th, Jun. 2010

Gamingbolt can now exclusively reveal that there will indeed be a new Metal Gear announcement this E3, in a matter of three days, in fact.

The giveaway this time? Kojima’s special E3 2010 site, which can be accessed here. The site itself seems to be absolutely meaningless, albeit well designed. The page seems to be displaying a montage of video clippings showing various incision devices at work, cutting away. In the top left corner, you’ll notice a small counter that reads, seperately for the US and Japan, 03 days remaining.

So how does this tell us anything?

Well, if you view the Page Source (in IE, this can be done quite easily. When you’re on the page, click on the page tab in the top right of your browser, then click on View Source), this is what it lists out as the keywords:

<meta name=”description” content=”KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS E3 2010 SPECIAL SITE” />
<meta name=”keywords” content=”KONAMI,Hideo Kojima,METAL GEAR,KOJIMA PRODUCTION,E3,2010″ />

The Metal Gear has been bolded for emphasis.

Anyway, what can this mean? It’s particularly interesting that the keyword is Metal Gear, and not Metal Gear Solid. Are we talking about a re release or remake of the old MCX Metal Gear games? Are we talking about a return to Nintendo consoles? Are we talking about an all new Metal Gear series? Or is this quite possibly a hint at Metal Gear Solid Rising, which is slated to get a rereveal this E3? Meaning that Metal Gear Solid Rising now might just become Metal Gear Rising?

Too much speculation, and not enough info. We’ll keep you guys posted.

For now, as the site says, there are three days left.

UPDATE: It’s worth noting that three days from now is 15th June. Sony’s and Nintendo’s conferences take place on 15th June, so I think we can safely rule out an Xbox Metal Gear themed announcement. It’ll either be Nintendo or Sony, with precedence dictating it’ll be the latter.
