The Witcher 2 Sells 1.7 Million, Confirmed For Mac

Posted By | On 30th, May. 2012

In their summer conference earlier today, CD Projekt Red, known for their Witcher series of role playing games, let loose quite a bit of information about critically acclaimed title The Witcher 2. No, it still hasn’t been confirmed for the PS3, but it was confirmed for a Mac release later this year. Also, for those of you who live in Japan and aren’t big on PC gaming but want to play this game, the Xbox 360 version was announced for an October release in JP this year.

Apart from that, CDPR announced the game has sold 1.7 million units across both systems (PC and Xbox 360) so far. Given that it’s a niche, hardcore RPG with very little marketing, those sales are astounding, and frankly, very heartening. I just hope that as the series continues to gain popularity, it can translate to commercial success as well.
