Nintendo thinks Xbox 360 SmartGlass is “flattering”

Posted By | On 13th, Jun. 2012

The moment Microsoft announced the SmartGlass functionality for the Xbox 360 at their E3 conference earlier this month, people started comparing it to how the Wii U and its controller connect and work. Nintendo’s also doing the same, in fact doing on to say that it is flattering to see that people are following them in adopting technologies so quickly.

Nintendo’s Scott Moffitt, VP of sales and marketing, says that Sony and Microsoft were a little late with adopting motion technologies for their system, three years after the Wii was released, and that Sony only implemented touch controls in their handheld with the PS Vita. But seeing Microsoft add the SmartGlass functionality just a year after the Wii U was revealed is “flattering”.

“We announced second screen gaming last year,” he said, “and it’s somewhat flattering that it only took people a year this time around.”

“I’m not sure how, as a gamer, I would manipulate a second screen with most hands on my controller,” he continued, going on to talk about the SmartGlass’ limitations. “We don’t have three hands, unfortunately.”

Yeah, you think?
