Today a Valve employee confirmed that the Steam Summer Sale will happen after all, following concerns that all was lost and Gabe had gone feral.
Writing on a thread on the Steam forum, Valve Engineer Mike Blaszczak officially confirmed the sale, which will be “sometime this summer”.
Previous years have seen Steam’s Summer Sale offering astronomical savings on some very big titles, historically always starting at the end of June. Reasons for the later-than-planned sale have yet to be confirmed.
