Nvidia Brings GeForce Now Streaming Service To PC and Mac

Nvidia banking on the cloud.

Nvidia will be bringing GeForce Now, their excellent streaming service that is also a staple of their Shield devices, to PCs and Mac computers. Now, you may be asking yourself what the point of that even would be- after all, wouldn’t you just play your PC games on your PC, instead of streaming them?

However, Nvidia is counting on players being able to play games at higher settings than their GPUs will support (for PC players), or for simply playing games unavailable on their platforms (for Mac players) with this service. You will simply log in with your Steam ID, and be able to play your games on an Nvidia PC powered by either a GTX 1070 or a GTX 1080. Cloud saves will be supported.

The service will cost $25 for 20 hours of play on a GTX 1060 PC, or 10 hours of play on a GTX 1080 PC. Exact catalog details were not shared, but we did get to see Rise of the Tomb Raider being streamed to a Mac during Nvidia’s keynote at CES, so I suppose we can count that one as a definite yes.
