A New “The Evil Within” Update Starts Fixing The Game

Keep working at it folks.

the evil within

Happy days, oh happy days! Do you remember playing The Evil Within and thinking (besides the usual complaints about the game) “Whoa, those black bars are pretty damn obnoxious”? Well an update, that I personally insist on calling a patch, has been released for the PC build of the game and brings with it numerous settings which quite frankly, should have been in the game upon launch.

The patch notes show that new frame lock settings have been added as well as the ability to toggle the games frame limit between 30fps and 60fps (most likely from the settings window and not on the fly).  Changing the game from letterbox to regular is now also an option, other fixes include fixing gameplay problems when at 30fps, fixes for the removing of the letterbox (probably an improvement of the awful popping textures) and some localization.

Not only did the game prove to be quite divisive, it was really very buggy. Let’s hope that changes.
