With multiple showcases and high-profile reveals, either confirmed or otherwise, it looks like Bandai Namco could be preparing a release date announcement. And it appears to be for none other than Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, announced last December.
While not officially confirmed, PEGI rated the flight combat title in Europe for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Such ratings usually indicate a release in the coming months, though that’s not always the case, as seen with Playground’s Fable. Still, given that it’s one of the publisher’s biggest games of the year, a new trailer certainly wouldn’t be amiss. With the rating now pulled, it seems even more likely than ever. Or maybe that “pre-release” date of May 30th was an error.
Either way, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches this year, and follows the story of the Endurance. Host to numerous refugees following an attack on the Federation of Central Usea by the Republic of Sotoa, you take up the moniker of the legendary Wings of Theve.
There’s a stronger narrative focus than before, especially with first-person cutscenes and three allies that you’ll come to know better as time goes on. Its SteamDB listing pointed to Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War being made available as a potential pre-order bonus – perhaps we’ll see that going live later this week.
