With reviews now live for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Bandai Namco has outlined everything you need to know about the flight combat title. As the Wings of Theve – or at least, the latest one to don the mantle – you’ll partake in missions at the FCU Endurance in the ongoing offensive against the Republic of Sotoa.
Of course, you’re not alone, as Joker Flight’s members are under your command. While featuring over 30 aircraft that can be customized and upgraded, not to mention the franchise’s iconic Superweapons, Ace Combat 8 makes some pretty notable changes to the formula. For instance, you can now attack outside of the specific target space to deal damage.
Much of the narrative is also presented in first-person with dialogue choices. As for multiplayer, there’s Ace Combat Online with co-op, PvP, limited-time missions like Emergency Sorties where eight players team up against a Superweapon, and more. Of course, if you want to hang out with friends in your base and play classic Namco arcade games, that’s an option.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches on October 1st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, but Deluxe Edition owners can start playing on September 29th.
