Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is adamant about improving the customisation from the original, especially with the introduction of the Specialist class. However, it hasn’t stopped there, as players can also use new elemental damage and customize their weapons in a myriad of ways.
Such is the variety available that director Chris Cross says four medics could enter a mission with completely different loadouts. Speaking to TechRadar, he said, “There’s enough customization that you can take four medics in, and they’ll all be different.
“It’s mostly weapon synergy, damage synergy, ability synergy. It’s funny, you would think that four medics are not as offensively capable, but actually, you can take a poison medic and drop off a med station that puts poison out; it’s almost a cheat code, because almost everybody’s running at overclocked helps. It’s totally awesome.”
He also touted an “infinite amount of ways to coordinate with your buds, on how you want to kit up as a group…You could customize to your heart’s content.” Of course, all these different methods of dealing damage will need to be managed carefully since friendly fire applies at higher difficulties. As Cross notes, crouching becomes “very important” to avoid any unwanted team-killing.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is out this Summer for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC with a release date yet to be confirmed. Unlike its predecessor, up to four players can team together as you scour the universe to combat the Xenomorphs. Not that they’ll make it easy for you, especially since they’re smarter and have new types in their ranks.
You can check out the entire Prologue here, which highlights just how much more tense and chaotic encounters can be. Alongside the campaign, Fireteam Elite 2 also features new Horde maps where you’ll face waves of increasingly challenging foes for greater rewards. We’ve yet to see how different it is from the first game, so stay tuned for updates.
