Alleged leaks, apparent delays, and even an ESRB rating notwithstanding, Cold Iron Studios’ Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has finally been confirmed. It will be exclusively revealed tomorrow, May 7th, by IGN at 8:30 AM PT/11:30 AM ET.
The trailer thumbnail is about what you would expect – Xenomorphs galore, some familiar returning weapons, including the Thunderbolt Mk. 2 Autocannon, and a Marine squad that’s in way over its head.
Much like its 2021 predecessor, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is a third-person PvE shooter. A leaked internal document from 2024 indicated a potential eight to 12-hour campaign for up to two players, alongside an alleged “new spin” on Horde Mode called Annihilation.
And while it’s possible that the first game’s character creator could return, it seems that the development team is going for fixed playable characters. There are apparently five with the attached thumbnail potentially revealing their appearances. Aside from unique looks, they allegedly sport unique abilities and signature weapons.
Based on its ESRB rating, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A release window has yet to be confirmed, but it could be sometime in the third quarter of this year. Stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, check out our review of the original.
