Capcom hasn’t remastered a Resident Evil game in a few months, so we have to think they’re about due. It seems like the pieces are all falling into place for an imminent announcement on the Resident Evil 2 Remake and its launch date.
Firstly, there’s residentevil2.com, which we know two things about. That the page is owned by Capcom, and that the site is a blank white page with the word “OK” on it. OK possibly referencing how Producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi revealed the existence of the title. The Japanese Resident Evil Twitter page has a brand new header to leave a space, which is begging to be filled by some title as well.
Finally, the most direct pieces of evidence come to us from the Twitter for the development team. The tweet, embedded just below, was taken in the teams hotel room for their trip to the US for as of yet unknown purposes. The two items of interest in the shot are the dummy finger that drove fans crazy in the Resident Evil VII demo, and the edge of another object, which seemingly lines up with images of old fashioned typewriters, the famous save point in classic Resident Evil.
Of course, the most telling is that this is all ramping up just a few days out from January 21, which would mark the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil 2. What better time to announce the date, or dare we dream, a surprise release? Keep it on Gamingbolt as this develops.
Good morning, everyone! (from the U.S.) Hope you all have a good day!:) pic.twitter.com/g8OQ94ju2D
