The game almost went with stock music as its main theme.
Now when you are starting a video game franchise or a company that deals in the media business, we understand that initially it’s really hard to find good music to go along with whatever product your selling. Nintendo faced this problem and as such opted to go for some stock music, which was called Ravel’s Boléro — as the game’s main theme. Now the problem was, that Nintendo found out that Ravel’s Boléro was copyrighted and as such started to panic and went to legendary composer Koji Kondo who had very limited time to come up with a replacement fast, and thus he created the most iconic theme song in video game history.
