AMD Will Launch Hot Fix To Address DirectX 9 Crash Issues

Hopefully it comes soon.

The newest update for AMD’s Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition introduced random and sporadic crashing issues for a number of DirectX 9 based games, including Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, Battle for Middle Earth 2, and The Witcher Enhanced Edition, among others. While AMD had originally claimed that a fix for this will be included with a future update, they have now changed their stance on this, presumably in response to widespread customer complaints.

Speaking on Twitter, they confirmed that fixes for this will be coming with a hot fix instead- which is good, because it means that the wait will be significantly shorter. Of course, we still don’t have an actual date for when this hot fix may be out, but they usually are released on a priority basis- so hopefully it won’t be a long wait.

Meanwhile, for now, it may be best to play games based on DirectX 10 or 11 for the time being.
