In the absence of a Nintendo Direct, we’re all left wondering what Nintendo’s lineup for the rest of the year is going to look like (when we get the time to worry about smaller things, that is)- but at least for the foreseeable future, a single release in the form of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is going to keep millions of people occupied.

The game launched to rave reviews almost universally near a week ago, and to highlight the praise it has gotten from publications, Nintendo have released an accolades trailer, which you can view below. In our own reviw of the game – which you can read through here – we called it “the culmination of the series’ formula, the zenith of everything Animal Crossing is about, and one of the best games Nintendo have produced in years.”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ critical success has been reflected in its sales as well. Not only did it see a record-breaking debut in the UK, it has also sold upward of 2.5 million in Japan, which has also resulted in the Switch enjoying its single biggest week ever in terms of hardware sales.

The game is out now for the Switch, though the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could result in a delay for its planned DLC.
