Studio Wildcard’s Ark 2, a sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved, was supposed to be one of the major Xbox Series X/S exclusives this year. It faced a delay to the end of 2024 to ensure the final product’s “betterment” and “the team’s well-being.” However, the annual report from Digital Domain, a support studio on the title, claimed a delay to Spring 2025.
Digital Domain stated it was “intimately involved in all aspects” of the sequel on page 17 of the report. However, a spokesperson for Studio Wildcard told GamesRadar that they had “no idea where that came from.” They added that the release Spring 2025 release window is likely “just a typo.”
Fans can rest assured that the sequel hasn’t suffered another delay. In the meantime, the developer is working on Ark: Survival Ascended, a remaster of Survival Evolved developed on Unreal Engine 5. It launches this August for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
However, official servers on Survival Evolved will be shutting down, limiting players to offline single-player and private servers. Following backlash for including it with Ark 2 in the Ark Respawn Bundle on Xbox Series X/S and PC, Ark: Survival Ascended will now be sold standalone for all platforms at $59.99.
