A mod for ArmA 2 called DayZ Origins has been released, and those of you who don’t want to buy DayZ itself, for some reason, but still want a proper game that’s a lot like it, this might be a good option. Better than The War Z anyway.

While this mod has nothing to do with the original DayZ, it’s got some excellent ideas going for it- rather than having the military vehicles of DayZ, you drive beaten down, half ruined vehicles, which would fit a zombie setting perfectly.

The mod also boasts of persistent leveling and lots of exploration.

DayZ Origins runs on a modified version of the Taviana map. It’s now called Survival City, and survivors with access to money have built a save haven here, protecting themselves with walls and mercenaries, and “if you manage to get in, you will have a chance at grabbing some of their finest weaponry and supplies.”

Does this sound interesting to you? You can download it here if you want.
