Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. It doesn’t feature any gameplay but showcases the backstory for what seems to be the player character, codenamed C4-621. Check it out below.

Told in flashbacks, we see C4-621 and their squad venturing to destroy a giant laser cannon. With several squadmates already disintegrated, they must destroy a massive battle tank that stands in their way. After doing so, against all odds, they detonate their core to annihilate the cannon, seemingly dying.

Of course, they’re not dead, and after being revived, C4-621 receives an offer, a “reason to exist.” Overall, the trailer is incredibly sleek and sets the stage for the player character’s journey to Rubicon 3, where megacorporations and factions battle over the volatile Coral.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is out on August 25th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Head here for the latest gameplay. You can also learn about the differences between it and Soulsborne titles here.
