While Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced brought its fair share of enthusiastic pirates back to the Caribbean, Ubisoft is focused on crafting new experiences for the franchise instead of retreading ground with remakes.
That might disappoint those hoping to see another favorite from the franchise get a current-gen makeover. However, we think this is also a good thing, as it means a focus on upcoming additions to its illustrious lineup. Ubisoft confirmed the news in a Fall 2026 Update post, where it also announced New Game Plus for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This is on the heels of Nightmare Mode for Resynced, among other things, in what was the final update.
“One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development. Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin’s Creed titles, including projects you haven’t heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories.”
However, that doesn’t mean we won’t ever see any more. “But don’t mistake that for a closed door. Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we’ll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back.”
Of course, our curiosity has been piqued by the mention of projects we haven’t heard about yet. We’re hoping the studio has found its inspiration again, especially after some bumpy years. If it means Assassin’s Creed returns to the highs it once commanded with such ease, we’re all for putting a few remakes on the back burner in favor of new experiences that take the stealth-action formula it does so well and take it forward.
