Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has finally finished its utterly epic post-release content this year. It was quite the journey, but one that’s done and over now and fans are hungry for the next installment. We probably still have a ways to go before we get anything official about it, but an alleged leak has come with lots of potential juicy details, though there’s at least one thing that’s bound to ruffle some feathers.

In a Reddit post, an alleged developer on the game spilled the beans on 4chan. In the post he apparently said the game will be set in the early 1000s around Ireland, Sweden, Norway and England. The story will focus on a time when Christianity is spreading as the old Norse religion is losing steam and will involve allusions to many Irish folk tales. Irish High King Brian Boru will play a key role in the narrative, being a father figure to the protagonist. That’s more or less in line with previous leaks which said the game was going to be called Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok.

On aspect that’s sure to raise some eyebrows is he alleges that the game will only feature a single playable protagonist, a Danish man. Considering the popularity of the selectable character in Odyssey, and specifically of Cassandra herself, that’s quite the surprise and one that’s sure to be quite sour to some people if true.

As always with these types of leaks it’s all speculation and rumor until it’s official. Since the originating source for this is 4chan, which is infamous for both real and fake leaks, you have to take it all with a grain of salt. There’s nothing here that sounds too out of left field, though, to be fair. Only time will tell.
