You can shoot. Through. Walls.

The fact that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is going full on action RPG is something we’ve known for plenty of time now, and while Origins was a proper revamping of the franchise’s combat systems, Odyssey is taking everything that much further- even the combat. And though the combat is very much going to be built on the foundations laid down by Odyssey in 2017, there’s going to be a lot of new stuff to dig into here.

Of the three main branches the combat will be built on in Odyssey, one is ranged combat, and courtesy of YouTube channel JorRaptor, we now have a full five minute long video showing ranged combat gameplay footage from the game. You can take a look at below, and you really should, because there’s plenty of interesting stuff to get into.

For starters, you can now shoot through walls. Yep, you read that right. Of course, this is probably an ability that you will have to unlock as you progress through this particular tree of the game’s progression mechanics, so you won’t start off with this ability right away, but holy hell is that going to come in useful.

Something else that is interesting is that status effects seem to be a thing now, because there’s a variety of arrows you can shoot that will have such effects on enemy NPCs. Poison arrows, stun arrows, fire arrows are all new things now (though Fire Arrows were in Origins too), while there is another faster, stronger type of arrows, called Death Arrows. All arrows will, of course, need to be crafted.

There’s loads of other stuff in the video to sink your teeth into, so take a look below. If you want more info on the game’s combat, its RPG mechanics, map size, and more, you can read our recent interview with the game’s director Scott Phillips through hereAssassin’s Creed Odyssey launches on October 5 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
